What IDA Ireland offers FDI and multinational operations — R&D, capital and employment grants — and why it is investment support, not a scheme to buy AI software.

IDA Ireland offers grants to foreign direct investment and multinational operations — R&D, capital and employment supports — not a scheme to buy finished software.
What the scheme actually gives
- R&D and feasibility grants (the R&D&I feasibility grant offers up to 50% of eligible costs), capital grants and employment grants for qualifying investment projects.
- Funding is decided by IDA’s Investment Committee following an application; the Sectoral Capital Plan 2026–2030 allocates €680 million to IDA’s grants programme.
- Aimed at FDI/multinational projects with substance in Ireland — not at an indigenous SME buying AI tooling (that is Enterprise Ireland / Local Enterprise Office territory).
Does it fund buying AI software?
IDA funds investment, R&D and jobs in inward-investing operations; it does not pay a company to buy an AI tool for everyday use. A platform such as osFoundry lowers the cost structurally through usage-based pricing and the BYOK principle — which helps more than waiting for support that does not cover software.
